SECURITY SECTION
In C8 version 6.2, a strong user password policy is implemented to protect user passwords from the sophisticated cyber-attacks.
If the User Password policy is set by the Administrator, then passwords must meet the following minimum requirements when they are changed or created:
- Number of password characters must be between five and 80 characters.
- Password must contain at least one character from the following four categories based on the security configurations defined by the Administrator in the Security section of Company Defaults tab:
- Uppercase characters (A through Z)
- Lowercase characters (a through z)
- Base 10 digits (0 through 9)
- Special characters (!, @, $, #, and so on)
- Passwords must not contain the user's entire User Login name value, entire First Name value, or entire Last Name value.
A new column Locked is introduced in the User Login table to display the lock out status of a user account. Administrator can unlock the related user account through the Actions column.
Lockout Reactivation Mode
If the Lockout Reactivation Mode is set to Automatic, then the error message displays the lockout duration. The related user account is unlocked automatically after the lockout duration and then the user can log on to the application with correct user name and password. If it is set to Manual, then the related user account is locked permanently without any lockout duration. The user must wait till the Administrator unlocks the related user account manually.
